not be getting calls from telemarketers or anyone making sales calls.
This does not include charitable organizations, businesses you have an
established relationship with or political organizations. It does not
mean that you cannot ask these businesses to remove you from their
calling list but these are the only exceptions to the registry.
Telemarketing Phone Numbers Occasionally there are violations of these laws and it is important to understand when you can lodge a complaint and when you must simply grin and accept them. Some complaints are lodged only to find that the caller was not in violation of the registry. This can leave some people frustrated with the whole system and cause businesses to be investigated for no reason. If you are receiving sales calls from someone you are in an established relationship with before 8:00 am or after 9:00 pm, this is a violation. Regardless of what your work hours are, you should not receive any sales calls before and after these times. The company can be reported for this and if reported repeatedly, they could be fined heavily for their lack of cooperation. A telemarketer that calls your telephone and leaves a message but neglects to inform you of how to opt out of their phone calls is in direct violation of the list rules. Most sales organizations have their own no call list and according to the FCC is obligated to inform you on how to sign up to be removed from their calling list. Answering your telephone only to find a recording on the other end is annoying. Once you are registered with the DNCR and telemarketer neglects to identify their company or themselves they are violating rules. The rules are quite similar to one another with the key word in most of them being telemarketer. Filing a complaint has been made rather easy. There are several ways to do this including online, telephone or in writing. You can go online and do a search on the subject. This will result in finding the main website hosted by the FCC. There you will find links that will allow you to file a complaint online or print the form and mail it in. You can also send an email with specific information. This email address is also listed on the site. You may also file an action lawsuit in a state court. This would require a number of complainants to contact an attorney for filing. It may be a little more difficult to do but it is a possibility. In this case you may be able to place an ad in the local newspaper for others who have had the same experience. There are businesses that violate the do not call registry every day. Some get by with this because many people simply do not want to go through the trouble of reporting them.
